I have met too many degreed individuals that didn't know squat about networks or security.
This is a knowledge-based trade and it requires specialist skills. If you know your stuff, you deserve the job. SANS stresses real world skill, not stale university computer theory.
Those with only BAs, MAs, PHDs belong in management. They have no qualification that entitles them to technical work- unless of course, they have been in the trenches with the rest of us:)
