What you just said makes no sense. If you were a black hat then you wouldn't want anyone to close anything as it would never benefit you in any way.

This case shows how an institution simply doesn't know how to handle its students. A university has the responsibility of guiding its students and that is something that is simply not happening.

The student would have been more valuable if he were to help them fix and close the security vuln.
