At first it seemed interesting that he would plead not-guilt, but after thinking about it, it makes sense. All he had to do was wipe/destroy his hard drive, and there would hardly be a case for the prosecution. There is plenty of plausible deniability and reasonable doubt in computer "hacking" cases, i.e. someone else compromised his computer and used it as a proxy to break into Palin's email.
