Speaking as someone with a firm understanding. Having played a part in both botroast 1 and botroast 2 among other projects. I would suggest you set down your technical gloves. Get on the chat networks, and develop relationships. The most impact you can have is removing there network of trust. If they don't know who to ask for help, if they can't tell the friend from whitehat. Then they are at a substantial loss. Most of these guys rely on one another to an extent for various steps in the creation, deployment, modification, obfuscation roles.
