Job Description: Unix, Linux Superstar with EXTENSIVE Info Sec; US Citizen Required, Security Clearance Preferred!; SW Start-Up in Palo Alto, CA

I am looking for a Sr. SA with extensive information security experience (please see requirements below) to be a kick/butt and take names member of an Info Sec/IT team comprised of same. You will provide technical security expertise to support the overall security goals of the company and work closely with the IT staff to design, implement, maintain, and monitor the security architecture.

Ideally, you hold a security clearance. You MUST be a US Citizen.

My client is a software product company in Palo Alto – a well-funded start up, whose executive leadership has played very successfully in the start-up space before. Their product has already received media attention because a handful of people using their tool identified a very high-level, far-reaching and extremely important international cyber security breach.

All of their employees combine the talents of thinking AND doing and hail from the best schools in our country, many PhD’s some PhD drop outs – some just naturally gifted technologists. These people are not just smart (smarts only get you so far) they are also productive, engaging and interested in working in an ego-less, brain trust type of environment, that is heavy on the hours.

Their company culture is very much that of Google in its original days – catered breakfast, lunch and dinner, excellent health insurance, creative work spaces (complete with private offices, and game rooms for blowing off steam), lack of politics (read interest in TRUE solutions, not titles and clout), flexible hours (but easily 55-60 hour weeks), and heavy stock compensation in a company that is heading for a hefty IPO or private sale.

You are WAY more impressed with technology than dollars, but would appreciate being rewarded for the hours you’d pour in, required or not. You’ve always risen to the top of your class and your work environment and you’re head over heels in love with technology, always have been, always will be. You are also well-rounded (fun and a real person away from the keyboard). You are not trying to mitigate the hours, the work environment, or the need for technical chops (see specifics below). The right person has read the description above and thought, “yup that’s me,” and NOT “that would be me if,” unless of course the if pertains to the validity of my statements about the company, in which case I’d be delighted to talk details…
