Job Description: IDS/IPS Engineers and Architects –Top Secret Security Clearance Required

Ciphent, Inc. seeks a self-motivated, organized, ambitious individual to serve as an IDS/IPS Engineer/Architect for a number of clients. SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATES SHOULD POSSESS OPERATIONAL EXPERIENCE IN MCAFEE INTRUSHIELD OR SIMILAR PRODUCTS. CANDIDATES MUST BE ABLE TO TRAVEL LOCALLY TO THE WASHINGTON, DC METRO AREA.

The overarching objective of this role is the protection of information that is stored or managed across a number of varying complex environments. As an IDS/IPS Engineer/Architect, successful candidates will have experience in the development, design, implementation, and analysis of local and wide area network solutions. They must possess a methodical approach to their work and exude confidence in communicating in a logical, meaningful and consistent manner. The ideal candidate will possess intimate knowledge of the complexities and challenges surrounding Information Technology Security as it applies to communication and network engineering. A majority of the solutions will include security products and components but hands-on security experience with Intrushield is not required but is preferred. Qualified candidates will lead by example, be self-motivated, have excellent interpersonal communication skills, and experience interfacing with clients. The role requires an extensive information security skill set and a comprehensive understanding of security threats, risks and processes. Any information security experience in the Government sector would be advantageous. An active Top Secret Security Clearance is required for consideration for this position.

Scope of Responsibility

• Implementing and configuring software and appliance-based products in large enterprise and Government environments

• Working within organizations to develop and implement effective network, product, and application solutions while adhering to security best practices, government and industry compliance standards

• Evaluating, designing, implementing, and integrating products and controls into various platforms, network devices, and systems

• Performing knowledge transfers and training clients regarding security awareness

• Conducting network security assessments

• Serving as a subject matter expert to clients

• Communicating recommendations to clients in both written and oral form

• Maintaining security monitoring and reporting appliances; leading and analyzing security reporting

• Maintaining knowledge of and communicating changes in security regulations, best practices, countermeasures, compliance, and threats

• Preparing technical designs as well as high-level flowcharts and schematics

• Troubleshooting and resolving network issues

• Aiding in the awareness of standards and best practices, as well as enforcing these standards
Job Requirements: Requirements

• Secret security clearance required for consideration; higher levels of clearance welcome

• Must be able to travel locally to the Washington, DC Metro Area

• Must be authorized to work in the United States

• College degree or equivalent experience with 2+ years of experience working in a complex network or systems engineering role required

Preferred Technology Expertise

• Operational experience in McAfee Intrushield strongly preferred. Candidates with Intrushield experience will be given preference

• Additional product experience with SourceFire/SNORT, Dragon, Juniper IDP, Netscreen, 3Com TippingPoint, and CheckPoint - 1 a plus

• Strong understanding of TCP/IP network architecture and implementation is a must; ideal candidate will have worked with complex TCP/IP networks

• Excellent time management, reporting, and communication skills

• An understanding of a wide array of server grade applications to include Lotus Notes, Exchange, DNS, SMTP, IIS, Apache, SharePoint, Active Directory, Identity Management, Patch Management, LDAP, SQL, and others

• Superior problem-solving skills when it relates to IT issues

• Experience with client interfacing situations and projects

• Experience with other McAfee security products (ePO, VirusScan, Host Instrusion Prevention, Secure Web and Email Gateways, Policy Auditor, and Foundstone) a plus

• Cisco certifications CCNA, CCDA, CCSA or CCIE are nice to have but not required

• CISSP, CEH, MCSE or GIAC are a plus
