The Role

This role is based within the Public Sector Services and Compliance Group.

A number of projects have resulted in a large and complex security system being built into the infrastructure of the network.

The system fulfils

EU data retention functions

Internet mal-ware and hacking stats

Volume billing enhancements

And other governance elements

Europe’s largest CyberSecurity Monitoring system

Responsibilities/Main Duties

Design and Produce Security systems

The appointee will be designing a complex security system and producing the necessary supporting documentation. They will be configuring IDS, IPS, firewalls and SIEMs, to support the security of the system.

These systems need to be capable of operating on massive high speed networks e.g. 10Gb

There is also an ambitious road map of future developments that the appointee must maintain.

System coding

Once the system is designed the appointee will then translate their designs into C and C++ programs.

System administration

The systems reside on Linux – ability here is essential.

Staff Development

This is a senior role with supporting staff - but the successful candidate must be hands on

Knowledge/Experience required

Experience in designing and developing in these areas is mandatory:

1. C & C++ - and associated tools – in systems programming writing device drivers, protocol stacks and kernel modules

2. Security tools - Snort and Nessus

3. PCAP and associated tools

4. Device drives

5. TCP/IP to packet level and BSD socket interface

The following is desirable

• PERL and Shell Script programming

• Ability to develop rapid proof of concepts

• SQL

• Formal design and development experience

• Experience of FPGA and CUDA programming

The following general experience is required

• Experience working as a programmer and designer ideally of security software

• Good knowledge of security practices

• First hand experience of working in a services environment

• CSSLP, CISSP or GIAC security qualification (GCIA/GIPS)

• Security Cleared SC or DV
