PROFILE A security specialist with a background in software engineering, database development and business management. A keen interest in computing and first hand experience of identity theft led me to pursue my M.Sc. in Security and Forensic computing. EDUCATION 2005 2006 Dublin City University: M.Sc. in Security and Forensic Computing 2005-2006 Thesis: Small Businesses on the Web: Threat and Financial Impact Analysis Full systems analysis of a real-world business website against the top 10 web threats as specified by OWASP. Potential threats identified via system and code analysis were confirmed using white box testing, with the entry points and subsequent damage potential estimated via threat analysis and associated DREAD calculations. The figures gained were used to determine an appropriate work schedule and the site re-tested following implementation of the mitigation strategies. The software development project encompassed the complete development of a system using OO paradigms from initial specification through construction to end user testing. The project centered on the development of a networked/multiplayer version of Blackjack. Following construction, automated play and basic statistical analysis were used in conjunction to determine if a player could win, over what timeframe, if they adhered to the strategy put forward by Stanford Wong in his book Professional Blackjack. PERSONAL INFORMATION In order to stay abreast of computing topics I review websites, subscribe to several news forums, read technical manuals and journals regularly; interspersed with the odd contemporary or classic novel. Due to increased media coverage, poker has recently piqued my interest. Physically I like to jog, and hope to take part in the 2009 L.A. Marathon. Classic motorcycle and auto restoration is an active hobby. My projects have included rebuilding a 1974 Volkswagen Beetle and a 1963 BSA Bantam D7. I am currently working on designing and building a custom motorcycle based around a Harley Davidson Shovelhead engine. I am well traveled, and plan a trip to Japan next.
