EMC Identifier: ESA-2017-035

CVE Identifier: CVE-2017-4982

Severity Rating: CVSS v3 Base Score: 7.0 (AV:L/AC:H/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H)

Affected products:

EMC ResourcePak Base 7.6.0

EMC ResourcePak Base 8.0.0

EMC ResourcePak Base 8.1.0

EMC ResourcePak Base contains a fix for a privilege management vulnerability that could potentially be exploited by malicious users to compromise the affected system.

EMC Mainframe Enablers ResourcePak Base versions 7.6.0, 8.0.0 and 8.1.0 allows a Key 8 program to run in supervisor state instead of problem state. This could allow the program code which runs as an authorized user to give control to another Key 8 program in supervisor state. Supervisor state can allow privileged instructions to execute and/or cause inadvertent or intentional storage overlays which could lead to data corruption.

The following EMC Mainframe Enablers ResourcePak Base (EMCSCF) release contains resolutions to this vulnerability:

? EMC EMCSCF 7.6.0 version with fix SF76150

? EMC EMCSCF 8.0.0 version with fix SF80052

? EMC EMCSCF 8.1.0 version with fix SF81026

EMC recommends all customers upgrade at the earliest opportunity.
