My Simple Forum Local File Include and Cross-Site Scripting Vulnerabilities
My Simple Forum is prone to a local file-include vulnerability and a cross-site scripting vulnerability.
An attacker can exploit the local file-include vulnerability using directory-traversal strings to view local files and execute local scripts within the context of the webserver process. A successful attack can allow the attacker to obtain sensitive information or gain unauthorized access to an affected computer in the context of the vulnerable server.
Exploits of the cross-site scripting issue may allow the attacker to execute arbitrary script code in the browser of an unsuspecting user in the context of the affected site. This may help the attacker steal cookie-based authentication credentials and launch other attacks.
My Simple Forum 7.1 is vulnerable; other versions may also be affected.
