Apple Mac OS X ATS Heap Based Buffer Overflow Vulnerability
Apple Mac OS X is prone to a heap-based buffer-overflow vulnerability because it fails to perform adequate boundary checks on user-supplied data.
An attacker can exploit this issue to execute arbitrary code within the context of the affected application. Failed exploit attempts will result in a denial-of-service condition.
Versions prior to OS X 10.6.7 are vulnerable.
NOTE: This issue was previously discussed in BID 46950 (Apple Mac OS X Prior to 10.6.7 Multiple Security Vulnerabilities) but has been given its own record to better document it.
