Open-source group Mozilla released the latest version of its Firefox browser, which adds few security features but gives the user more tools to handle their privacy.
The browser adds a Private Browsing mode, which eliminates any of the normal caching of visited sites or cookies and had been included in the company's test version in December. The company also added a Forget This Site feature to delete traces of the most recent site visited by a user.
"Having second thoughts after visiting a certain website?" the company wrote in its reviewer's guide. "With this feature, you can remove every trace of that site from your browserno questions asked!"
Mozilla's previous major version of the browser, Firefox 3.0 released a year ago, added a number of security features, such as anti-phishing. Since then, the company has taken measured to increase the quality of code and eliminate bugs by tracking the security metrics of its developers.
The latest version of the browser also improves the anti-phishing and anti-malware protections included in the browser, according to the U.S. Computer Emergency Readiness Team (US-CERT).
