by Walter A. Boring IV, waboring@veracity.nu
KSniffer is a network statistics collector for the KDE environment. It allows a user to watch all network traffic over any network interfaces connected to the host machine. KSniffer supports most TCP/IP protocols, (TCP, IP, UDP, ICMP, ARP, RARP as well as minimal IPX). KSniffer collects the number of packets, and number of bytes for each protocol. It also displays the activity in terms of kbits/sec, kbytes/sec and packets/sec. KSniffer also lets you watch port specific traffic for monitoring things like http, ftp, telnet, etc. traffic.

IPgrab 0.8.2

by Mike Borella, mike@borella.net
ipgrab is a packet sniffing tool, based on the Berkeley packet capture library, that prints complete data-link, network and transport layer header information for all packets it sees.

Echelon for Dummies

by Mixter, mixter@newyorkoffice.com
Echelon for Dummies is a 'distributed' sniffer. E4D consists of sniffing 'Agents,' servers that can be installed on any number of hosts, and will then sniff traffic and forward the results via the TFN2 method (random protocol/strong encryption) to a central logging daemon that handles messages from all the remote hosts. E4D sniffing agents will monitor ALL local traffic at SOCK_RAW level and perform pattern matching against a user-defined list of keywords and -patterns, scanning all UDP/TCP/ICMP packets.

by Brecht Claerhout
Sniffit is a packet sniffer for TCP/UDP/ICMP packets. sniffit is able to give you very detailed technical info on these packets (SEQ, ACK, TTL, Window, ...) but also packet contence in different formats (hex or plain text).

Epan

by Peter Tobias
EPAN is a protocol analyzer for ethernet networks. The program allows you to display the received frames either in an overview mode or in a frame detail mode. It is also possible to create a few statistics (frame size distribution, utilization or protocol statistics). For more detailed statistics EPAN offers to use an external program like gnuplot to evaluate the collected data. Data acquisition is done by a separate program called edump (similar to an RMON probe). This program can capture data from the following devices:

exdump
