A simple request? 2004-02-11
Mike Schiffman (mike infonexus com) (3 replies)
Hi there. As some of you may know I'm slated to speak at The RSA
Conference on Feb 25th. My topic of choice is "The Evolution of
Libnet". I created a slick presentation using OS X's Keynote and let me
tell you, it was dialed in. As none of you know, I lost this
presentation in an unfortunate HD

[PATCH] checksum problem on big endian systems 2004-02-11
Frédéric Raynal (pappy-ml security-labs org)

Hi,

A few days ago, Mike reported me a bug hapening on Mac OS X, and
probably with other big endian systems: some checksums were invalid,
sometimes ...

Here is a proposed patch (very short :) but that would be great if you
guys could test it on different systems/arch (eg sparc/solaris). I've

Hi,

I've noticed a lot of talk here recently about trying to find some way
to integrate libnet and libpcap. Well, over on the tcpdump list,
they've been talking about the same thing on and off for the last couple
of months and I was wondering if Mike or any of the other high up
mucky-mucks have be

First of all, thank you very much, Mike Shiffman, for your reply.

I tried out these things (and other) the last week and still have problems
and kindly ask for your help.

I am writing a program which captures packets using libpcap from
eth0(subnet) then resends them from eth1(main LAN) with a d

No manual exists yet -- I'm currently working on Doxygen dox for the
entire project; until then you can scour the source for doxygen style
comments (check out include/libnet-functions.h), look over the sample
code, or check out my book which covers libnet 1.1.0 pretty succinctly:

First of all, what operating system? Second of all, are you sure you
have all of your interface logic setup properly? You have initialized
pcap and libnet twice on each interface? Are these interfaces on the
same network (and in promiscuous mode)?

The idea of using precomputed checksums for a pe

Tcpreplay 2.0 released & Call for help 2004-02-01
Aaron Turner (aturner pobox com)
After about 8 months of development as 1.5.alpha, I've released version
2.0 stable. For those of you who are still on 1.4.x, you'll find almost
twice as many features. I've even added a feature or two since the last
1.5.alpha snapshot so even if you've been keeping up to date, you'll
still want

char * to struct ether_addr * 2004-01-31
Sergio Garcia Irigoyen (fat administracionygestion com) (1 replies)
is there any function in libnet to pass from a char * in format
xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx to a struct ether_addr* ?
I want to take an argument from command line (ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff in for
example) and use it for ARP packet creation.
is there any function to make that?

Thank you very much.
Sergio.

question when using options in headers.. 2004-01-25
Mustafa Abu Sedera (tifa_80 hotmail com) (1 replies)

I have a question when sending packets which have header options, as i
didn't find any examples on it.

q1:
Is this order of packet building correct?
e.g. TCP:
1- build_options()
2- build_tcp_header-with payload specified, length = paylod_s+20 (or should
i add: + option_length)
3-build_build_ipv4
