Hello everyone,

I'm experiencing some strange behavior with ssh and I'm trying to figure
out where the problem might be. I'm running Ubuntu 9.04. Relevant
version numbers:

$ ssh -V
OpenSSH_5.1p1 Debian-5ubuntu1, OpenSSL 0.9.8g 19 Oct 2007

$ dpkg-query -W openssh-client
openssh-client 1:5.1p1-5

tunnel between two debian hosts not working not working 2009-07-25
Clayton (ckoeni gmail com)
Hi openssh,

I live in China and have a server in the US. I have been using an SSH
tunnel for web browsing to go around the censorship.

I am able to successfully proxy through an ssh tunnel to a shell
account on a US-based hosting service where I have some websites.
However, my own server does not

Hello list,

I have openssh-client __1:5.1p1-5+b1 installed in my debian box. I have remote ssh information stored in my .ssh/config file.
I have protected one remote ssh by fwknop. When I need ssh login to that particular sever I have to open the port with fwknop client installed in my local box. I

Chrooted sftp setup accessible with psftp, but not sftp 2009-07-21

Hi all,

I'm having problems with a chrooted sftp set up. I can connect with
the psftp program from the Putty toolkit, but not with the standard
sftp utility.
OpenSSH is the same on the client and server:
OpenSSH_5.1p1Debian-5ubuntu1, OpenSSL 0.9.8g 19 Oct 2007

My server configuration is as follows

Do you check if ssh hostname somecommand works or not? Try to run it with terminal suppression using -T i.e. ssh -T hostname somecommand.

If that works perhaps something wrong with the terminal allocation on the remote side (may they are all utilized? just guessing!) or problem with the shell.

Thanks for all the feedback everyone. I got my answer today. One
thing I should have clarified is that the server in the DMZ is behind
my own firewall. I control it and there are no other processes on it
monitoring for tunnels.

But the answer is really simple. I connect outbound on port 22 to

Hello,

until this morning I was able to ssh from my ubuntu client to my fedora
core 9 server. suddenly (without any config change on the server or the
client), I couldn't ssh anymore: I could still enter the password,
authentication seems to be ok, but no shell prompt :-(

so I am wondering what's

Detecting a Tunnel Over SSH? 2009-07-16
Gary Huntress (gary huntress gmail com) (2 replies)
Hi,

Let me start right off by saying I am not trying to circumvent the
security policy of my office, even though this will sound like that's
what I'm trying to do. My office recently instituted a very strict
firewall policy which forbids tunneling traffic.

Prior to that, I would use putty from m
